Description

This beautiful center was the focal from the Tribes Competition Challenge from Allegory Gallery.  This is the first time I have entered into one of their challenges and it has been fun!!  Now comes the time ‘of truth’!!  I will be entering this beadwoven creation into a set of voting rounds!!

PHOENIX   m & f   English (Modern)
From the name of a beautiful immortal bird which appears in Egyptian and Greek mythology. After living for several centuries in the Arabian Desert, it would be consumed by fire and rise from its own ashes, with this cycle repeating every 500 years. The name of the bird was derived from Greek φοινιξ (phoinix) meaning “dark red”.

This necklace took over 41 hours to complete. I used peyote and herringbone stitch to complete it. The center is made without the use of GLUE or BACKING. The center sets inside beads that are between 11o and 15o (this means there are between 11 – 15 beads per inch).

Necklace measures at 18 – 20 inches in length and can be lengthened if needed. Center hangs down 2.5 inches from top of strap.
