Washing Wednesday’s

This is a re-post of an early blog post, but I thought with Thanksgiving ‘stains’ and all, it would be a good one to run again !  ENJOY!!  ~KM

I thought I would share a little quirky advice with you today. I have already done my washing for this week – and with no kids at home this week (at camps) I will not have to do anymore until this weekend, but I had thought about all the ‘yucky’ and ‘dirty’ things I put in the machine without even a thought of cleaning the machine itself…well, here is how!

Here’s How:

  1. ExteriorWashing machines are often made of baked-on enamel. The best cleaning solution is a cleaning cloth with a mild all-purpose cleaner or dish soap. Gently wipe down the exterior surface of the washing machine.
  2. InteriorWiping up detergent spills and build up as it happens from inside the washing machine will keep it in better shape and make cleanup easy. If something was washed that has left a solid residue in the washing machine, retrieve all the pieces and wipe down the interior of the washing machine with a cleaning cloth.
  3. Preventing or Removing SmellsTo prevent a smelly washing machine, leave the lid open on the washing machine when a load is removed to allow it time to dry out. If smells do happen, try washing an empty load with hot water and a mixture of baking soda and vinegar.
  4. Hard Water IssuesIf you experience limescale buildup from hard water, water softeners added to your laundry detergent may be a workable solution.

Enjoy!!! And Happy Cleaning!!!  ~KM
